Quick 4-Question Test: Do I Have a Drinking or Drug Problem? (CAGE-AID)

For: The person who drinks or uses, about themselves · Takes 1 minute · Reviewed by Dr. Pichayut Kasemphakdeephong (Psychiatrist), 6 September 2026

CAGE-AID is the shortest screening test in common use worldwide: 4 yes-or-no questions covering alcohol and every kind of drug. It suits anyone who has started to wonder “am I using too much?” but does not want to sit through a long questionnaire.

The result is a preliminary screen, not a diagnosis. If it suggests further assessment, you can go on to the AUDIT (alcohol) or ASSIST (drugs) test for a more detailed risk level. Everything is calculated on your device. Your answers are not stored or sent anywhere.

The following 4 questions are about your own drinking or drug use. Answer honestly. There are no right or wrong answers.
