Therapeutic Community (T.C.)

Therapeutic Community (T.C.) at Day One Rehabilitation Center

A therapeutic community (T.C.) is a treatment approach that models everyday life in society, so that people in addiction treatment practise living drug-free, taking responsibility for daily duties, adapting to life with others, and following the rules of a community.

During residential treatment at Day One, residents live together as a small community with a clear daily routine — from waking up, meals and therapy sessions to exercise and rest — with staff and therapists close at hand. Members support and encourage one another, and practise responsibility, communication and problem-solving without turning to substances.

The goal of the therapeutic community is to rebuild self-worth, discipline and practical life skills that residents can carry with them after leaving the center, so that returning to family, study or work is stable and the risk of relapse is reduced.
