2Q 9Q Depression Screening Test (Thai Department of Mental Health) with Instant Result

For: Anyone who suspects they may be depressed, about themselves · Takes 2 minutes · Reviewed by Dr. Pichayut Kasemphakdeephong (Psychiatrist), 7 September 2026

The 2Q and 9Q (usually referred to together as 2Q 9Q) are the depression screening tools used by Thailand’s Department of Mental Health in hospitals and health centres nationwide. Two screening questions come first; if either applies, the 9-item 9Q, equivalent to the international PHQ-9, rates severity.

Depression very often goes hand in hand with alcohol and drug use, each feeding the other. If you or someone close to you has a substance problem, screening mood at the same time helps the doctor plan treatment for both. The result is a preliminary screen, not a diagnosis, and your answers are not stored.

It starts with 2 screening questions (2Q). If either applies, 9 more questions follow (9Q). All questions refer to the past 2 weeks, including today. Choose the answer that fits best.

Your answers are not stored or sent anywhere.
